I signed up for two hand-lettering classes on Skillshare months ago, and I finally took a break from other projects to start one of them. The First Steps of Hand-Lettering, taught by Mary Kate McDevitt, sounded too fun to resist. I chose a fun quote from one of Jane Austen’s letters. “Which of all my important nothings shall I tell you first.” I spent part of this weekend brainstorming the lettering styles and layout for my project.
I’ve had good success with classes from Skillshare, and this is another excellent class. The videos for this class offer a great overview of planning a hand-lettering project. They would be especially helpful for beginners interested in finding out more about hand-lettering techniques. I’m still finishing some more finalized sketches for my quotation, but what do you think so far?
